Okay here's my take on the Oscars

Good morning! Did everyone watch the Oscars last night? Thank goodness I'm on the West Coast, not sure I could have made it through the whole thing on East Coast time! I'm sure every blog out there has an Oscar post this morning. Well, here's mine. I'll keep it short and sweet....first off, thrilled that Sandra Bullock won Best Actress. I LOVED The Blind Side and she was fantastic in it. Also, very happy that Jeff Bridges won and I thought his speech was so sweet. I never saw Avatar (and actually heard it was very good) but I must admit I'm a little happy it didn't roll in all of the awards. Didn't see The Hurt Locker yet either (I know I need to see more movies!!) - but I'm glad the little movie made a bigger splash. Always been an under dog kinda person!

And now, for the most important part of the night, the FASHION of course. Here are my top 3 best and worst dressed.....

BEST DRESSED goes to Rachel McAdams. Oh my how I love that dress.

And coming out to present with Jake Gyllenhaal, what more can a girl want?

Close second goes to Demi Moore. Beautiful ruffles!!

#3 has to be Elizabeth Banks. I love that color, and more ruffles. Yep, love it.

And now for my least favorite....

Eeek, that's pretty much all I have to say.

As we know I love ruffles. But seriously? Way too many.

Okay and for my least favorite...sorry Charlize, you are one classy woman....but as it's been said, you look like you have two cinnabon's on your boobs.

So what do you think? Agree/disagree with my picks? Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend

HAPPY MONDAY!!

Happy Friday!! Links to Love...

Okay here we are at another Friday! Hope everyone had a great week! Plans for the weekend? Around here we are sticking by the home front. A few little projects and a lot of relaxing. I think it's supposed to rain so that means we'll be cozied up indoors.

And now for our Friday Links to Love...

Married almost 4 years and I can always browse wedding photos. For some amazing inspiration and real life wedding photos check out this blog - the picture above is a teaser!

Battling to brush your toddler's teeth? Me too. Advice is here.

Oscars are Sunday!! Get prepared by checking out the nominee list first and then printing a ballot to keep it interesting!

Looking for something to eat while watching said Oscars? Try this chili and then these for dessert.

And finally, if you are in the mood to shop...here are some unique totes, courtesy of a darling Etsy shop called drika.b.

Happy Friday!!

OKL Finds - Fun Trays

Two posts in one day? I know, amazing. But couldn't pass up sharing these fun trays with you from One King's Lane. Right up my alley with fun colorful prints. Email me at prettysmitten@yahoo.com for an invite to their shop!!

What?? KMart??

Target is ALWAYS my go-to...but Kmart?? Doesn't even cross my mind. Maybe it should? Interior designer Caitlin Creer used these chairs from Kmart in a recent living room design. You may remember her as the original source of my dream house posting. But aren't these just darling? Love that nailhead trim. And at only $99 bucks each, I would say that's quite a steal.

In my house I'm thinking I'd add a fun, colorful, modern pillow. How about one of these from Etsy seller milkandcookiesCanada? Check out their shop for lots of great pillows at affordable prices!

Happy Thursday!

I just love to see where my little party papers find their home. These cupcake toppers found their way into an engagement session photgraphed by Kristen Partin. They featured the date of their upcoming wedding. So cute, right?

Check out Kristen's website and blog for more of her amazing work. We're going to be partnering up on some more photos...so stay tuned!!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Farm Fresh

Yesterday at my Mom's group we had a nutritionist, Amanda Louden, come speak to us. She spoke a lot about what I believe in already....eat food in as close to it's original form as possible. So basically, limit the processed, packaged foods. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, grains and dairy. When I got home I checked out her blog and found some great tips and recipes. Thought I'd share a few!

Favorite tip I found...make salad ahead! Do all of the chopping and put a great salad together, then just store it in a salad spinner in the fridge. Just add dressing for an easy weeknight salad. Or use at as a topping for tacos, wraps and more. Genius! Now remember, on that salad don't top it with a sugar filled store bought dressing. Make your own or just use oil and vinegar.

Now for some recipes...there were so many to choose from and I'm dying to try some of them out! Here's an appetizer, main course and dessert to get you started. Check out all her recipes here.

AND guess what else? I signed up for Farm Fresh to You....organic veggies and fruit grown on a local farm and delivered right to my door stop on a weekly basis. Yay! I get my first box a week from Thursday, so I'll let you know how it goes!! Interested in signing up for something similar? Check out this website to find a farm near you.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

Yellow like Sunshine

Okay here we go again...it's Monday! Don't these weeks just fly by? How was your weekend? We had a fantastic time in Pasadena. I flew in early Friday morning and got to spend the day on my own. Did a little wandering, shopping, and attended a very interesting meeting that I'll fill you in on later! Then dinner with Brad at a little pizza place in Old Pasadena (which sorry I forget the name) and then cupcakes from Dots Cupcakes. Pretty much couldn't get better. Saturday morning we braved the rain to meet my brother in-law and family for breakfast. Then it was off to the airport to head home to our little guy. Boy did I miss him so it was nice to spend a lazy Sunday, just the three of us at home.

Now, I'll get to the point of this post! I'm sure you are all dying to know...what did I buy at the Stella & Dot party I went to on Thursday night? Well, it was nothing on my list! I ended up with the bloom ring...but in YELLOW! I'm definitely on a yellow kick. Remember my birthday shopping post? Anthropologie shirt, AE flats, Puma sneakers...all with hints of yellow. So this post is dedicated to the sunshine color. Hoping it makes you smile.

My new Stella & Dot bloom ring. I'm in LOVE.

Target again? You better believe it! Yellow striped trench coat.

I've had a crush on this Thomas Paul Aviary pattern for a while now, can never decide on which color is my favorite. Right now though, it's yellow of course. Find this pillow from Etsy shop Milk & Cookies.

Yellow and gray in a master bedroom. Yes please.

And yellow is no longer just that 'neutral' color for a nursery when you don't know the gender!

And Pretty Smitten's most popular print...in it's most popular color of course. Here's a little sunshine from me to you. Find this print in my shop.
HAPPY MONDAY!
